An unexpected tragic incident came to light yesterday due to gas leakage at LG Polymers in Gopalapatnam, Venkatapuram early Thursday morning. 10 people were reportedly dead and 1000’s of lives were affected severely. Many volunteers have come forward to help the needy. Also AP C.M who donated money to the effected families immediately is a good gesture.
However in this regard, internet was also inundated with panic messages about the gas leakage.
Visakha police commissioner RK Meena rubbished the rumors doing the rounds regarding styrene outburst. A team of nine experts arrived in Visakhapatnam late at night to prevent gas leakage and already are on board to curb gas leakage at LG polymers. RK Meena, who is reviewing the situation, said its in full control and that people living in the remaining 5 villages need not go anywhere. He added that people can be confident and need not go berserk on the streets worrying about their lives.
On Thursday night, the Police Commissioner pleaded people to not panic and ordered the residents to evacuate only if they are around the 2km radius surrounding the recent gas leakage area, predominantly as a precautionary measure.
The city police chief also appealed people to not pay heed to any hoax news related to the gas leakage. He emphasized saying that residents who live beyond 2 km radius from the gas leakage spot need not panic or run on the roads.
