Ben Stokes, who was recently appointed as the England Test captain, on Monday announced his retirement from ODI cricket. His decision came as a shock to not only his fans but for several players as well.
Former India captain Virat Kohli has now sent
the English all-rounder a heartwarming message after the latter announced his retirement from the 50-over format of the game.
Taking to Instagram, Virat Kohli wrote, “You’re the most competitive bloke I’ve ever played against. Respect.”
After former skipper Eoin Morgan, Stokes is the second England cricketer from the 2019 World Cup-winning side to quit the ODI format.
Stokes made his debut to ODI’s in 2011. He played 104 matches, scoring 2919 runs and picking up 74 wickets.
