Virat Kohli, the run machine who is in super form, has achieved another rare feat. He became the highest run-getter in T20 World Cup history overtaking Sri Lanka legend Mahela Jayawardene.
The former Indian skipper reached this accomplishment at 16 runs in the match against Bangladesh in the ongoing T20 World Cup tournament. Kohli crossed Jayawardene’s total of 1016 runs in T20 World Cups, which he set in 2014 – the year Sri Lanka won the title.
While Jayawardene scored these runs in 31 innings, Virat completed them in just 25 innings. He is currently with 1,065 runs. With more matches left in this mega tournament, the ‘King’ at the top of the form is likely to score more runs.
Virat Kohli is also the highest run-getter in men’s T20 history. India’s captain Rohit Sharma is next on this list.
