Y. S. Vijayamma has returned to India from the United States amid the ongoing election turmoil in the state. She had gone to the US during the intense campaigning period and landed back in Hyderabad on Friday night. Instead of going to her daughter Y. S. Sharmila’s residence, she directly went to the residence of her son Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the outgoing Chief Minister, in Tadepalli.
Sources suggest that Vijayamma was deeply disturbed by her son’s unexpected defeat in the recent elections. During the campaign, she had released a video message urging the people of Kadapa to vote for her daughter Sharmila, who was contesting against Jagan’s party candidate. This led to speculation that she was not supporting Jagan in the elections.
It appears that Vijayamma had anticipated Jagan’s victory and Sharmila’s win in Kadapa. However, the Telugu Desam Party emerged victorious with a significant margin, while Sharmila lost her deposit in Kadapa. Vijayamma’s decision to go straight to Jagan’s residence in Tadepalli suggests that she wants to provide moral support to her son during this difficult time. She is expected to stay in Tadepalli for some time before returning to Hyderabad to be with Sharmila.
