Celebrity astrologer Venu Swamy has found himself in legal trouble after the 17th Metropolitan Magistrate court instructed the Jubilee Hills police to initiate a case against him.
This development follows a petition filed by well-known television presenter TV5 Murthy, who accused Swamy of deceiving the public under the guise of astrology. Murthy claimed that Swamy misrepresents himself by associating his image with that of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In his petition, Murthy also alleged that Swamy was attempting to cause him harm. The magistrate, upon reviewing the petition, sided with Murthy and directed the police to conduct an investigation into the allegations against Swamy. As of now, Venu Swamy has not publicly responded to the court’s decision.
The controversy escalated after Swamy made a prediction regarding the relationship between actors Naga Chaitanya and Sobhita Dhulipala, suggesting they would separate in the coming years.
This prediction drew significant backlash, especially since the couple had just announced their engagement. Following the backlash, Venu Swamy and his wife, Veena Srivani, have made serious allegations against journalist TV5 Murthy, claiming he blackmailed them for ₹5 crores.
Since then, Murthy began covering Swamy’s activities on his show, intensifying their conflict, which ultimately led to Murthy’s legal action against him.
