TSRTC has decided to get rid of the ‘Vajra’ buses completely as they are not usable. It is learned that internal orders have been issued to convert minibusses into scraps under the SCRAP policy.
These buses were purchased at a cost of over Rs 40 crore in total and at a cost of Rs 70 lakh on each bus. The company acquired 60 Vajra Mini AC buses in 2017 with the aim of providing better services to passengers.
Vajra buses are used to transport passengers from major colonies like Mehdipatnam, Kukatpally, and Dilsukhnagar in Hyderabad to various cities. These buses also failed to achieve at least a 50 percent occupancy ratio (OR) due to higher ticker fares.
They are corroded due to a lack of minimum maintenance. It is learned that the authorities have decided to turn the minibusses into scrap as they have become useless.
