A 26-year-old social media influencer, Shubham Mishra from Gujarat’s Vadodara was arrested on Sunday night subsequent to the furore over his abusive video that appeared on social media.
Shubham Mishra had posted the video on his Instagram account on Saturday. He could be heard passing below the belt comments against stand-up comedian Agrima Joshua and made open rape threats over her year-old video about Maratha king Shivaji’s statue in Maharashtra. Agrima has opposed the construction of Shivaji’s statue earlier but later confessed her apology. Very soon netizens backlashed at Shubham at his spiteful behaviour. A comedian and propagandist Kunal Khamra too shared the objectionable video and tagged the city police to arrest him on twitter.
Mishra invited an unexpected outrage across India, including the National Commission for Women, which opposed his nasty act. They ensured that Shubham gets strictest possible punishment. Vadodara City Police soon reported that they took suo moto action against Mishra for sharing such derogatory video.
“We have detained him and initiated legal process for registration of FIR against him under relevant section of IPC and IT act,” they announced on Twitter yesterday night.
