The superpower United States is being suffocated by the Coronavirus. Despite the ongoing vaccination process, millions of new cases are coming to light every day. Although the number of cases has been declining since July, the death toll continues to rise. The number of daily deaths continued to be a cause of worry as the country reported over 2,000 Covid-related fatalities on Friday.
The New York Times reports that 2,579 people died on a single day on Friday with Covid. An average of 2,012 people were killed every day during the past week.
Covid-19 deaths are particularly high in Florida, Texas, and California. As of September 13, there were 2.85 million new cases in the United States. However, the cases have shown a decline since then, dipping to slightly over 1.65 lakh on Friday. Despite the declining number of cases, over two thousand deaths have been reported.
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has revealed that many people are infected with the virus due to the delta variant. They found the Delta variant in 99 per cent cases tracked by the health agency. Meanwhile, around 54 per cent of the US’ total population has been fully vaccinated while over 63 per cent have received at least one dose.
