Uttar Pradesh is reporting a large scale of black fungus cases. So far, 73 cases of ‘black fungus’ infection have been reported in Covid-19 recovered patients. Twenty cases have been registered in Varanasi, Fifteen in Lucknow, Ten in Gorakhpur, six in Prayagraj, five in Gautam Buddha Nagar, four in Meerut, three in Kanpur, Mathura, and Ghaziabad, and one in Agra.
Two Covid-19 patients have died in Kanpur due to black fungus. Two patients in Madurai and one patient in Lucknow lost their eyesight due to a black fungus infection. Aware of the deadly black fungus, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath set up a committee of 14 health experts. He has ordered them to control the spread of black fungus in the early stages.
