The Union Budget that was presented today by the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman clearly showed an empty hand to the Andhra Pradesh. With 22 MPs in his kitty, Jagan failed to make an impact on Modi’s government.
Given the aggressive nature of the Jagan, one would have expected minimum importance to the Andhra Pradesh in the union budget but everything was shattered today.
It is quite clear that Jagan has no intentions and expectations on the union budget. During the crucial period, Jagan Mohan Reddy is working on his three capital dream. Jagan hasn’t guided his MPs to bring out the best for the state from the parliament.
More ever, he can’t even pressurise the centre for the allocation of the required funds. As the abolition of the legislative council remains as the focal point in the state, Jagan needs Modi’s support and he is no situation to wage a war against the BJP.
Hence he chose the three capital dream, his alter ego over the state. But, Jagan missed the trick here. If he succeeds in establishing three capitals for AP, the decentralization policy needs lots of funds.
Already Jagan has made some costly promises to the Amaravati farmers and spending most of the treasury funds on the newly implemented welfare schemes.
If the center has allocated the proper funds for the agricultural sector in AP, Jagan could have focused on the development of his three capitals. There will be a lot of burden on the state government to implement this decentralization policy without the center’s support on other sectors.
The same thing Vijaya Sai Reddy said after the announcement of Union Budget that the state should be allotted the rightful share of the agriculture allocations.
He also raised a question on the central government promising that the farmer’s income will be double and there is no mention of it in the budget, which is the one Jagan made to the lease farmers in the Amaravati region.
