Two startups Clesnta and E-Tex from the Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi have manufactured an antiviral protection kit that comprises an antiviral lotion and T-shirt along with essentials like hand sanitisers and masks.
The antiviral fabric designed customisedly for the T-shirt, eradicates microbes on contact, proclaims the researchers. It reduces the probability of microbes settling on the fabric, thereby controlling the transmission. It is learnt that fabric is over 95% effective against bacteria and viruses.
The start up claims that antimicrobial properties of the T-shirt will be effective persistently even after 30 washes done mildly. The Covid-19 pandemic had propelled a great demand for multifunctional antiviral and microbial apparels.
Bipin Kumar, mentor for E-TEX, one of the two startups that has developed the kit, said “Developing cost-effective bio-clothing with antiviral and antimicrobial functionalities through local resources and resilient manufacturing can deactivate the viral threats and can efficiently slow the virus spread, which would eventually improve the economy of textile and garment sectors,”.
The other startup, Clensta, has developed a protection lotion that offers up to 99.9% virus protection for up to 24 hours. Founder, Puneet Gupta says that the product has been developed utilizing Prolonged Antiviral Technology to curb bacterial, viral, and fungal infections without posing threat to the environment and human health.
