It has been a burning question for months..! Who is going to take charge as the president for the Indian National Congress, the oldest political party in the country. After BJP’s triumphant in 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, Rahul Gandhi did call it quits for the party’s presidential post. Later, Sonia, who was the temporary president got ill and she also bid goodbye to the presidential duties as well.
Amid too many discussions, The meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) ended on Monday, after deliberating on the turmoil within the party for seven hours, with a resolution that Sonia Gandhi will continue to lead the party. Initially, Rahul Gandhi asked the party members to propose the name of the person who can lead the part more effectively.
However, seniors like Manmohan Singh, AK Antony, Ahmed Patel could come up with no name but their ex-president Sonia Gandhi. After hours of discussion, Sonia Gandhi, who was adamant about quitting the post of party president, agreed to continue. Sonia Gandhi said after the marathon meeting that she is representing one of the largest families in the nation and she doesn’t hold anything against anyone. Gandhi, however, asked leaders to raise concerns at the party forum only.
On the other side, reportedly, Rahul Gandhi expressed his distress on some of the party leaders who are being supportive to BJP indirectly. The Indian National Congress is a fighting force in the nation at the moment and Gandhi’s don’t want to take any chance. Rahul will continue as Party president if there will be any health issues for Sonia in the future.
