Director Trivikram Srinivas is one of the most successful directors of Tollywood, and has acted with some of the top actors in the industry. He scored the biggest success of his career three years ago, in the form of Ala Vaikuntapuramlo, and he is currently busy with SSMB28, where he is collaborating with Superstar Mahesh Babu after more than a decade. Trivikram recently spoke about several aspects of his career in an interview, and here’s an excerpt from the same.
About him becoming a director –
Trivikram said that he was always an avid film lover, who watched every film that released. He said that became a writer by accident, and it was because he was heavily inspired by Telugu literature, which he was exposed to, through exceptional writers like Ravi Shastri, Yaddanapudi Sulochana Rani, Malladi Ramakrishna Sastry and Ramana. He said that writing stories and loving films wanted him to turn his passion into his profession, which was how he decided to become a director.
About the various challenges he faces as a director and how he overcomes them –
Trivikram said that the biggest challenge that he always faces is executing a particular scene that he has written, and getting the emotions in that scene right. He thanked his actors for always being helpful and highly instrumental in helping him realise his vision, and for giving their best in such scenes. He also thanked the producers for always giving him what he needed.
The director also said that sometimes when he can’t get what he wants, he opts for a reshoot, and if nothing is possible, he tries to get the best out of what he has.
About his actors and most successful film –
Trivikram said that he shares a very close bond with every actor that he has ever worked with, which makes the shooting process that much easier. He said that it is the actors that need to be given credit for bringing out the emotion that a scene requires. He said that every actor he has ever worked with always gave their best.
The director named Ala Vaikuntapuramlo as his most successful film to date, because the film’s emotions remained with the audience long after the film was over. He named Athadu, Khaleja, Julayi and Attarintiki Daaredi in that list as well. He went on to say that he wants to make films that remain with the audience long after they are over.
About young filmmakers and SSMB28 –
Trivikram advised all the young filmmakers to work hard and keep working hard until they reach where they want to be. He said that this is how one can truly be successful.
Trivikram didn’t reveal much about SSMB28, and said that it’s too soon to talk about anything regarding the film.
About Tollywood scaling new success and international recognition –
Trivikram said that he is immensely proud and happy with the recognition that Tollywood has been getting on an international scale, and said that he congratulated Rajamouli, Ram Charan and NTR on the same. He said that MM Keeravani deserved the Oscar he got for Naatu Naatu. He also said that he’s incredibly happy about the recognition that Allu Arjun and Sukumar got through Pushpa as well.
The director said that his joy is immeasurable, with regards to Tollywood’s grand success, and said that this also means that movies need to better and filmmakers need to be smarter here on, because the audiences are also expecting only the best from Tollywood.
