It is a known fact that consuming alcoholic beverages is strictly prohibited in Saudi Arabia. However, director Anurag Kashyap, who is known for helming movies like Almost Pyaar With DJ Mohabbat, Dobaaraa, Choked and others, revealed that he was arrested and questioned by the officials in Saudi Arabia for reportedly getting drunk while he was travelling through the largest country in the Arabian Peninsula.
In a recent interview, Anurag narrated this incident from the past when he landed in Saudi Arabia, totally drunk and with a bag of pork sausages.
In an episode of Unfiltered with Samdish, the director said, “There were no flights from Denmark because of volcanic ash. I was very exhausted, and I had wine and I went, took the ticket and I had to wait for five hours. I went to the lounge and started drinking because I wanted to pass out. I sat in the flight and I passed out. I landed in Saudi, they arrested me because I walked on the land of Saudi totally drunk.”
Anurag said that he was allowed to leave after Jet Airways’ authorities had an argument with the Saudi officials as the actor-director was supposed to fly with next and it caused a delay of three hours.
