Kollywood film maker Shankar, who was known for top rated flicks in South India, rejected a well known choreographer turned actor Prabhu Deva. This happened exactly 25 years ago in September.
The film which took away most of the awards in filmfare that year, “Premikudu” was released 25 years ago in September, 1994. It has been 25 years and Prabhu Deva spoke to the media recollecting his memories. Speaking on this flick, he mentioned that the director Shankar initially didn’t like the idea of casting him in the lead role. He felt that Prabhu Deva is a good dancer but not a hero material.
Film producer KT Kunjumon convinced Shankar saying that the mannerism of Prabhu Deva was unique and will go well with the audience. The duo worked on the flick and the rest is history. Shankar took the best film director award in filmfare and music director AR Rahman was nominated as the best music director. Prabhu Deva and Nagma who acted in the lead role too achieved several appreciation notes and awards for this flick.
Prabhu Deva raised to fame as a hero in South India and came up with few more flicks later on. This month turned Prabhu Deva’s career towards positive slope, 25 years ago. Congratulations Prabhu Deva on a successful 25 years hero career.
