Tillu Square, the sequel to blockbuster DJ Tillu has hit the theaters today amidst decent hype and anticipation. Can the film live up the sequel hype and impress comedy lovers like the first part? Let us see what the film has to offer.
Story: Tillu(Siddhu) is back at it again as he is on a mission to impress girls at a pub which is when he meets Lilly(Anupama). The pair develop instant feelings and kiss outside the pub before Lilly disappears leaving Tillu in shock. Later, Lilly returns with the news that she is pregnant and reveals she is related to Rohit, who went missing in the first part. What is the connection between Tillu and Lilly? Can he deal with another betrayal ploy of a lady?
How did the actors perform?
Siddhu Jonnalgadda is in his element in this tailor-made role. His comedy timing and slick one-liners are the real deal for this film. He steals the show with his refined performance as Tillu. His comedy antics are the mainstay.
Anupama ups the glamour quotient and even does smoochy scenes which weren’t her cup of tea in the past. But her character is not quite as enticing as Radhika’s in the first part. The rest of the cast delivers standard output that is expected of them.
What about the technical finesse?
The director Mallik Ram has built on the world set up by the first part and he does a fine job with regard to connecting the dots from the first part. He laces comedy tracks based on the main characters from the first part.
The one-liner dialogues are hilarious. The comical one-line exchanges work the trick for the film as they successfully bring the house down. The comedy quotient works out in either halves. Though there are dull patches that are a result of an inexistent story, the comedy part partly makes up for it.
There are stretches in the second half when the comedy turns out to be repetitive and more care had to be taken here to further enhance the comical experience.
Ram Miryala’s music is good and so is the background score. The witty sound of the OST from the first part is carried in the second part. The visuals are of standard quality. The production values are good, as one would expect from Sithara Entertainments.
What’s Hot?
- Siddhu Jonnalgadda’s performance
- One-liner dialogues
- Music
What’s not?
- Weak core story
- Occasional monotonous comedy patches
Verdict: Tillu Square packs in loads of entertainment, engagement, and laughter. Despite the looming threat of comparison with DJ Tillu, the director smartly weaves in elements from the first part, ensuring that Tillu Square remains a riotous joyride. With its entertaining quotient, Tillu Square could very well cast its spell on audiences and rake in the moolah at the box office.
