The Nobel Prize in Physics for 2022 has been awarded to scientists Alain Aspect, John F Clauser and Anton Zeilinger for experiments with entangled photons, establishing the violation of Bell inequalities and pioneering quantum information science.
Announcing the awards on October 4, 2022, the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences said that the three scientists conducted groundbreaking experiments and the results have cleared the way for new technology based upon quantum information.
This most prestigious prize in the scientific world is awarded by the Nobel Assembly of Sweden’s Karolinska Institute and is worth 10 million Swedish crowns, which is approximately $900,357.
Established in the will of wealthy Swedish inventor and businessman Alfred Nobel, the prizes are being given since 1901 for achievements in science, literature and peace.
