Legendary singer S.P.Balasubrahmanyam had taken his last breath in a private hospital in Chennai, at 1:04 PM yesterday. The news of his death sent shock waves through the hearts of his fans all over the world. SP not only had a mesmerizing and charismatic voice, but also a charismatic and lovable personality as a human being as well.
SP has been laid to rest at a farm at Tamaraipakkam in Tiruvallur district, today. Tamil actor Vijay had paid his respects to the singer in person. After his passing on Friday, SP’s body was brought to his home at Kamdhar Nagar 1st Street at Kodambakkam around 4pm on Friday. Thousands of fans of the singer had gathered at his home by that time, where they took a last look at their favorite singer.
SP tested positive for Coronavirus on August 5th, and has been undergoing treatment for the same at Chennai’s MGM hospital ever since then. While the actor himself confirmed that his symptoms were very mild, and that he was getting hospitalised for being extra cautious, his condition became critical just a few days later.
He was reported to be feeling better after a while, but his condition had worsened on Thursday. Following that, the singer passed away on Friday, leaving a huge void in the hearts of millions.
Minister for Tamil development K Pandiarajan, film directors Bharathiraja and Ameer Sultan, singer Mano, music directors Dheena and Devi Sri Prasad, actors Arjun Sarja and Mayilsamy also paid their respects to the legend.
SP was laid to rest at 12:30 PM, by burying him, while the Police band was playing, and after the ceremonial guard of 24 policemen fired 72 bullets towards the air as part of the police honours.
SP had a voice that was instantaneously soothing and comforting, and although he is not physically with us anymore, he will continue to remain with us spiritually, in all those numerous songs he has rendered throughout his life.
