Tamil superstar ‘Thalapathy’ Vijay finds himself entangled in a legal issue over the promotion of tobacco in a song from his upcoming movie ‘Leo,’ directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. A case has been filed against him under the Narcotic Act for featuring tobacco smoking in the song.
The song, titled ‘Naa Reddy,’ depicts the actor dancing with cigarettes in his mouth. Social activist Selvam from Chennai’s Korukkupet has filed a complaint, alleging that the song promotes rowdyism and drug addiction.
Selvam has raised concerns about the song’s viral nature, stating it could potentially influence youngsters to engage in drug-related activities. He also intends to take legal action against Vijay for promoting alcohol and tobacco in the song.
Despite Vijay’s recent involvement in felicitating top-ranking students and encouraging moral values, critics argue that his actions contradict his words. The movie ‘Leo,’ directed by renowned filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj, is scheduled to hit theaters on October 19, 2023.
