The Telugu Desam Party has become the first party in Andhra Pradesh to announce their candidate for the Tirupati By-polls. One would wonder if they are too confident about these elections where a YSRCP MP died due to Covid which led to the by-polls. However, it seems the bad times are fast approaching TDP as the assembly sessions are scheduled to be held from November 30th.
In the last sessions, Gannavaram MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi distanced himself from the TDP when the assembly sessions were called. Later Maddali Giri followed Vallabhaneni during the same period. Karan Balaram also distanced himself from the party during the assembly sessions.
In the previous assembly sessions, two MLCs, Potula Sunita and Shivanadhareddy left the opposition party of Andhra Pradesh. Meanwhile, Vizag MLA Vasupalli Ganesh also left the party. This brings tremors in the party even before the start of the assembly sessions. The government has decided to hold winter meetings from November 30 to December 4.
On the other side, TDP can’t settle with a defence strategy especially when the Tirupati by-polls are online here. So, they need to be proactive. Things such as the government’s failure to curb COVID spread, attacks on SCs and Muslims, and false allegations and cases booked against TDP leaders are expected to be brought into discussion.
