The High Court of Telangana has passed key statements on the Devaryamjal land dispute within the Shamirpet Mandal of Medchal district.
The court asked why a hassle over this case now, as there has been a controversy over the subject since then. The bench heard the petition filed in HC on Saturday and asked why the land dispute a priority during the Covid-19 pandemic situation.
The bench questioned whether it was necessary to appoint four IAS officers to investigate the Devaryamjal land dispute when there was growing concern over Covid-19 cases.
The Advocate General explained that the committee was set up only for a preliminary inquiry into the land issue. He told the bench that action would be taken as per the law once the committee submits its report.
In response, the High Court clarified that notices should be given for any preliminary investigation. The committee was directed to give notices to those facing charges on this occasion.
The HC also clarified that those facing charges should co-operate with the committee’s inquiry. The Court issued interim orders not to interfere in the lands of the petitioners. The Bench directed the Endowment department to file a counter petition with full details.
