The High Court has expressed deep displeasure over the report submitted by the state government on the Covid-19 situation in Telangana. While the pandemic cases are on the rise in the state, the HC has questioned why the number of Covid-19 hospitals has not increased.
The HC commented that due to the lack of Covid hospitals, people are going to go to corporate hospitals. The bench questioned why the ambulance operators’ money looting scam was not prevented by the state.
The HC accused the government as the cases in the state exceeded the 10 lakh mark. On the one hand, as cases are on the rise, the Court questioned why closed schools and colleges should not be converted into quarantine centres.
The bench also said the oxygen supply to the state should be increased to 600 metric tons. Similarly, the Central Government should also file an affidavit. 108,104 ambulances should be made available to the public every day. The government should set up more toll-free numbers for the infections.
The HC is also not happy with the report submitted by the police department, as only four social distance cases have been registered in the state. The HC asked the government to submit another full report and adjourned the case to May 5.
