In the wake of the Krishna waters dispute with Andhra Pradesh, the Telangana government on Monday moved National Green Tribunal (NGT) to halt the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Scheme.
In its petition, the CM KCR led government has charged that the Andhra Pradesh government is neglecting directions of NGT and the Krishna board.
The Telangana government even said that it will provide all the required arrangements for an official team to visit the illegal irrigation projects in Andhra Pradesh. It urged the NGT to stop the wrongful construction of the irrigation projects in AP to protect its interests.
The Telangana government has written a letter to the Union Environment Ministry requesting that no environmental permits be issued for the Rayalaseema Upliftment Project that is being carried out by Andhra Pradesh. It explained that there is a possibility of a serious impact on the environment with this project. Along with this letter, the Telangana government has provided the details of wildlife sanctuaries.
