Recently, a complaint was raised against a government teacher in Telangana, saying that the teacher abandoned his duties as a government teacher, and was more active in his own business, where he was making money through illegal means. There have also been several complaints regarding the basic negligent nature of government teachers in the state, where the common point has been that no one is taking their duties seriously.
Reacting to these complaints, the Telangana government has declared today that every government teacher should hereby declare all of their assets to the government, and the assets of anyone who fails to do so would be regarded as illegal assets. The government is saying that this is a measure to prevent teachers from neglecting their duties as teachers to concentrate on their other businesses, through which they make more money. Fact is that a lot of teachers have side income, but not all of that is illegal. Only a few have the capacity to make illegal income.
As such, the government’s decision is being questioned, regarding the declaration of assets, with people asking why the government is not extending the same kind of treatment towards other government employees, especially those in the revenue department, who make a lot off of the bribes they get to get things done. It is now to be seen what the government’s answer will be, to this question.
