All educational institutions in the state of Telangana were shut down from January 8th, and holidays were declared until January 18th, initially, in the wake of the increasing number of coronavirus cases in the state, and also in view of the Sankranthi festival. On January 16th, the government once again extended the holidays until January 30th, as the number of covid cases was still on the rise.
While the government declared holidays, it gave permission for all educational institutions to carry on with online classes, and for a few days now, there has been some chatter about the reopening of educational institutions from January 31st. The High Court of Telangana enquired the government on the same yesterday (Friday), and today, an official statement about the same has been made.
Telangana Education Minister Sabita Indra Reddy announced on Saturday that all educational institutions would reopen from February 1st, Tuesday, and carry on classes in the physical mode. She also said that it is mandatory for all educational institutions to conduct classes while observing all covid protocols, to ensure the safety of the children, and of the faculty as well.
