YS Sharmila, the daughter of former united Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy, and the sister of current Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, has successfully managed to establish her party, YSRTP in Telangana, on July 8th. She has also managed to get good media publicity, something that parties like Praja Rajyam and Jana Sena suffered from. However, Sharmila doesn’t seem to be able to cross the biggest problem that is currently plaguing her.
While Sharmila argues that she is the daughter in law of Telangana, her claims seem to be going in vain, given that her husband, Anil Kumar’s parents’ roots trace back to Andhra Pradesh, despite Anil Kumar having been raised in Hyderabad. Now, Teenmaar Mallanna, who recently became the hot topic of Telangana politics, after he got more votes than national parties like BJP and Congress, and gave a tough competition to TRS during the recent by-elections. Mallanna has asked Sharmila to show her Aadhaar Card and Voter Card so that the people of the state would know where they are registered. This would clear all doubts regarding her nativity.
On the other hand, with several pada yatras coming up, including Sharmila’s, Mallanna’s, Etela Rajender’s, BJP’s Bandi Sanjay’s and Congress’s Revanth Reddy’s, it is sure that someone or all of them will question Sharmila about her nativity, and Sharmila wouldn’t be able to dodge this question for long. Dodging this question would only act in her offence, with the people of the state not being able to own her. It is now to be seen what Sharmila will do, in lieu of this.
