Daniel Jarvis, also known as Jarvo, breached the security and invaded the pitch again, on Friday, on the third day of the third Test between India and England in Leeds.
The incident happened after India opener Rohit Sharma was dismissed. The fan walked in, padded up as a batsman and tried to take strike before the surveillance personnel broke in and took him off. He had earlier come out to field for India during the Lord’s Test match.
Jarvo’s entry in a serious match once again entertained cricket fans. However, a fan in the midst of such tight security arrangements, coming into the crease twice like this, raises many suspicions. If a single fan breaks through the security twice and comes in, the fans are debating what is the guarantee for protecting the players if someone else comes.
At Stump’s, India’s score read 215/2, still trailing by 139 runs with eight wickets in hand. For the visitors, Pujara (91*) and Kohli (45*) are at the crease.
