After an insulting debacle in Telangana assembly elections, TDP decided to stay away from the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in the state and just support Congress.
The Lok Sabha elections in Telangana are scheduled to be held from April 11. While TDP has declared that its not going to contest in Telangana, this time, the party has extended its support to the Congress. Even TJS and communist parties- CPI and CPM, stood by Telangana Congress.
While the Congress is contesting in all the 17 Lok Sabha constituencies, TRS is aiming in 16 places, leaving Hyderabad MP seat to AIMIM. Both the left parties were offered four Lok Sabha constituencies in a tie-up with the Congress. CPI candidates will contest from Mahbubabad and Bhongir, and CPM from Khammam and Nalgonda.
The decision to stay away from Telangana Lok Sabha elections is in fact a wise one from TDP, as the result in these elections, would have unnecessarily influenced the AP people. Adding to it, TRS would have concentrated on AP too and split the votes, which could have further worsened the position of TDP.
