Police offers today disallowed Telugu Desam party leaders while trying to denounce on Praja Vedika demolition anniversary. Praja Vedika (people’s grievance cell) was destroyed by YS Jagan led government last year by claiming it as unauthorised construction.
On Thursday while it marks one year of the incident, TDP leaders protested at Karkatta near Undavalli junction. Police detained five TDP leaders Varla Ramaiah, Devineni Uma, Ashok Babu, Alapati Rajkumar and Bonda Uma who were en route to attend a meet at TDP president and former CM Chandrababu Naidu’s residence for official purpose.
The leaders and cops had a war of words triggering heated environment around the area. In spite of putting barricades, the situation was going out of control owing to which, police immediately reprimanded and arrested them by putting in the police van by stating it as a safety measure as per covid-19 norms.
TDP leaders tried to protest by decrying on people grievence cell demolition anniversary and hurled abuses on Jagan government against the demolishing of buildings at the river Krishna.
Praja Vedika was built by Chandra Babu after getting permits from Late CM YS Rajshekar Reddy as an extension to the former Chief Minister Naidu’s residence in 2017. It was built at a cost of Rs 8.9 crore to hold party meetings. But soon when YCP minister Jagan’s government came into force, he gave a speech in assembly that unauthorised constructions at banks of Krishna has to be demolished due to nonconformity with the building criteria standards. Very soon Praja vedika building was shattered down overnight triggering political rivalry between two parties since then.
