TDP senior leader Kagitha Venkata Rao has died of cardiac arrest in Vijayawada today. He was 71. Venkata Rao, from the Krishna district, held several key positions in the Telugu Desam Party.
The veteran leader was taken to a private hospital in Vijayawada from Machilipatnam for better treatment. While undergoing the treatment, he breathed his last because of the cardiac arrest. His body is moved to his hometown, Nageswararao Peta.
Venkata Rao served as an MLA from the Pedana constituency for several terms. Served as Chief Whip of Government, Chairman of TTD. He also previously worked as chairman of the state Public Undertaking Committee.
Kagitha Venkata Rao’s son, Krishna Prasad, is in politics while his daughter is serving in the medical field. Many politicians, businessmen and academics mourned the death of Venkata Rao.
