No government can dare to stop public welfare schemes introduced by the previous government as it would cost them dearly. But it seems, the YSRCP government in AP is working with the only motive of erasing the TDP’s impact in the state.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has recently called for the closure of Anna Canteens, which led to a severe uproar all over the state.
“Anna Canteens” that offer day meals for a low cost has been a major source of lunch, for the poor and also low-waged workers. As the scheme had been receiving an immense response, YSRCP government took a dig at it, saying that there were irregularities in the implementation of it and thus ordered for the closure.
Aggrieved over it, the TDP activists were going against the state government, for quite some time. Taking the issue to the next level, they are now trending it on Twitter with the hashtag #ReopenAnnaCanteens.
When a scheme has so much popularity among the poor people, there is an every chance for the government to face a severe backlash, if it decides to close it. If not Anna Canteens, Jagan may have picked Rajanna Canteens as its title, but a total closure is expected to trouble him and his party big time.
While YSRCP is in the similar position now, the party leader Botsa Satyanarayana earlier said that the state government will soon reopen the canteens, after the irregularities are identified.
TDP activists are becoming extremely active on the social media with the back to back trends against the ruling party. The latest hashtag is just one among several hashtags, the TDP activists were able to make it trend in the recent times.
