On Sunday evening, actress Taapsee Pannu had sharply disapproved and slammed the unfair practice of power department. She tweeted that there has been a huge rise in her power bill for a couple of months during lockdown at her home in her absence. Within no time an explanation regarding the issue was given by a spokesperson of Adani Electricity Mumbai Limited (AEML).
“We have re-started physical meter reading which was temporarily halted since March because of Covid-19. Bills were generated on the lower side, being an average of preceding three months – that is, December, January and February, which are winter months. Actual consumption in the months of April, May and June is comparatively higher due to seasonal impact (summer) and increased usage (advent of Lockdown/WfH)”.
The representative included that The bill sum for the past period will be added according to Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) rules. The customers will begin accepting the bills dependent on their genuine utilization with tariff slab benefits.
Prior, on Sunday evening, Taapsee had tweeted to communicate over a colossal power bill during the lockdown. She asserted that she has never even been in her apartment in Mumbai.
The actress shared that she was charged ₹36,000 electricity bill for June, which is a shocking rise of 835% from May. Tapsee also included bills of April and May, which shoot up to ₹4,390 and ₹3,850 respectively. She wrote, “3 months of lockdown and I wonder what appliance(s) I’ve newly used or bought…only last month to have such an insane rise in electricity bill.”
