It is known that the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy has announced Rs.1 crore ex-gratia to the people’s families who lost their loved ones in the Vizag gas leakage incident. YSRCP supporters and one sector the people are showering praises on the AP government for this announcement as no government has given such a huge amount so far.
Now, the opposition is asking the government to increase the ex-gratia amount by saying that it won’t be enough for the victims’ family. This is the most common angle we have been witnessing from any opposition in the entire country. On the other side government simply announced ex-gratia and wiped out their hands leaving the real issue as it is.
Jagan who asked one chance in the pre-poll period was given that chance by the AP people and he hasn’t done anything new. He neither opted to cancel the license of the industry in his power nor ordered a strong enquiry commission who can make the responsible persons pay for the havoc they caused. Center may launch an enquiry committee but what change did CM Jagan Mohan Reddy bring in here.
Giving 12 crore rupees to 12 families can shut the mouths of the victims but shutting an industry worth thousands of crores for their negligence can open the new chapter in governance which creates fear in those who play with the lives of people.
