Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee President Uttam Kumar Reddy has lashed out at his own party leaders for not defending him in a much needed time.
Speaking at a party meeting, Uttam said, “When I challenged the municipal election schedule without clarifying about reservations, the ruling party leaders lashed out at me saying that I’m afraid of facing the elections. None of the Congress leaders came in support of me then though the issue has turned one sided and ugly.”
He pointed out at senior leaders, especially BC leaders of Congress like V Hanumantha Rao, Ponnala Lakshmaiah and also Dalit leaders like Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Sarvey Satyanarayana and Damodar Raja Narasimha.
After winning as an MP in the last Lok Sabha elections, Uttam Kumar Reddy resigned to Huzurnagar MLA post and then a need for by-election had arose. While his wife Padmavathi contested as MLA candidate then, she lost to TRS candidate Saidi Reddy and thus shocked Congress which it believed that Huzurnagar is its confirmed seat.

Even though the senior leaders supported Uttam’s wife for grabbing the ticket for by-electon, her debacle has disappointed many. Since then all the senior leaders are allegedly distancing themselves from Uttam. The internal conflicts of this sort that too among the senior leaders of Congress are expected to further worsen the party while it is already finding it tough to make a mark in the state.
