Story:
The story is about a greedy guy Sundaram (Played by Harsha) gets into a deal with a local MLA, to go to a remote village named Miriyala Metta and get the most precious one in that village with out the villager’s knowledge. What is that precious one? Did Sundaram master manage to figure out that? How was his journey with the villagers? forms the rest of the plot.
What about on-screen performances?
Harsha Chemudu, for the first time, played a lead role in a film. He excelled as Sundaram master and carried the film well. We all know how good he is with his comic timing and this time, we get to see the emotional side of his acting in this film and he came out with flying colors.
Divya Sreepada, known for her role in color photo, played a female lead role in this. Her presence is very limited and lacks clarity in her role. She did well given the limitations of her role. She deserves much better roles.
The guy who played the role Ozo is very good. The way he shows innocence while asking questions brings authenticity. He has good potential and to be tapped.
What about off-screen talents?
Director Kalyan Santosh has chosen a very good point with an underlying message about how to live without being greedy. But it didn’t turn out to be a pleasant one when it translated to the screen. The director starts the movie by showing how greedy is Sundaram master. Though there is a bit of good humour in the first half, it looks a bit dragged.
However, the interval point raises curiosity on the second half. We expect a lot in the second half but this part looks completely out of place. The main scene used to bring change in the Lead role doesn’t look convincing.
The philosophy around a particular death scene is good, but that ends abruptly and Main Lead just walks away to watch a cricket match. This shows the lack of clarity in narration. Such abrupt ends, bring up the point about screenplay, which could have been more effective. The core point has a good scope of generating emotions, but that is limited to only few scenes.
There are certain scenes where the director shows his skill, for example, the way he displays the countdown on screen is hilarious.
Dialogs in parts are fine and thoughtful, especially the conversation between Harsha and other characters in the second half.
The camera work by Deepak is good. Production values by RT Works and Golden Media are very good and never seemed like a small-budget film.
Music by sri charan pakala lacked the impact. None of the songs get registered. Background score also, doesn’t leave any impact.
The art department deserves special mention. The team brought a lot of authenticity with minute details like bamboo cups and bowls, mud pots, etc.
What’s hot?
- Harsha’s acting and his comic timing.
- Initial comedy scenes involving English.
- Miriyalametta village set up
What’s not?
* Drama Could Have Been Enhanced
* Dragged out scenes
* Lack of clarity in screenplay
* Music
verdict: The trailer of this film certainly raised curiosity. but it falters totally when it comes to the main film. Though the core point is very good, could have been much better with the execution. Harsha’s comic timing and emotional performance are the only saving grace. Wishing to see him in more good films, but this one is not.
