With the increasing number of mysterious cases in the nation, it became a new add on for media channels in involving in the case to expose the hidden shocking facts in an attempt to battle for justice. Although it helped the viewers to come across few undisclosed news, media channels have lost the dignity in reporting the cases, led by their own.
Of late Maharashtra government has withdrawn general consent for media channels in covering the news.
Following up on its command given on October 6, the News Broadcasting Standards Authority (NBSA) kept in touch with news channels Aaj Tak, India TV, Zee News and News 24 Friday, demanding the specific phrasing of the expression of apology that the channels aired by violating its norms while covering late entertainer Sushant Singh Rajput’s demise.
NBSA is an autonomous body set up by the News Broadcasters Association (NBA) and entrusted with choosing objections about transmissions and considering its individuals responsible. Ex Supreme Court judge Justice A K Sikri is its present executive.
In its notice dated October 6, the body had pointed out at Aaj Tak, Zee News and News24 for airing derogatory headlines while reporting late actor’s death, which the order noted affected the “dignity of the deceased”. NBSA also compelled India Tv to apologise for showing visuals of Rajput’s body to their viewers.
