SS Rajamouli wins Best Director at NYFCC

One of the acclaimed filmmakers of India, SS Rajamouli has bagged a prestigious award at the international awards circuit. The RRR director, who received applause across the globe for his film ‘RRR’, won Best Director at The New York Film Critics Circle on Friday.

Founded in 1935, NYFCC is the oldest critics group in the United States. However, the group has named “Tár” as its best picture of the year. The selections for the year were announced on Friday as the group met in New York to vote for them.

On the other side, the makers of RRR applied in 14 categories under ‘For your consideration’ campaign in The Academy For the Oscars. The team has asked for consideration in categories including — Best Director (SS Rajamouli), Best Picture (DVV Danayya), Best Actor (Jr NTR and Ram Charan), Best Supporting Actor (Ajay Devgn), Best Supporting Actress (Alia Bhatt) and more.

Starring Jr NTR and Ram Charan in the lead roles, RRR is a fictional story based on the lives of two Telugu freedom fighters, Alluri Seetharama Raju and Komaram Bheem.
