Sunrisers Hyderabad has lost quite a few close encounters this season. They were off-the-track in many matches. For the first time, they looked quite confident in every department in the match held tonight in Dubai. Thus, they have registered a massive victory against Delhi Capitals by 88 runs. Delhi fumbled in chasing a target of 220 and got all out for 131. It was Wriddhiman Saha (87), David Warner (66) and Manish Pandey (44*) who did well on SRH’s batting front. Rashid Khan (3/7) shined in the bowling department.
After winning the toss, Delhi’s captain Shreyas Iyer chose to bowl first. He got a disastrous result as SRH’s new opening pair Warner and Saha gave a blistering start to their team. They scored 77 runs off the powerplay. Birthday boy Warner finished his half-century in the powerplay itself. After making a partnership of 107 runs, Warner got out in Ashwin’s bowling. Then, Saha built yet another good partnership with Manish Pandey. They made a 63-run stand for the second wicket. Saha got out after scoring 87 runs. After that, Pandey and Williamson took SRH’s score to 219/2 in 20 overs.
Delhi got a horrendous start while chasing this huge total. Opener Shikhar Dhawan got out in the first over itself. Marcus Stoinis fell in the second over. In the seventh over, Rashid Khan took the wickets of Shimron Hetmyer and Ajinkya Rahane. Iyer got out in the 12th over. In the very next over, Rashid dismissed Axar Patel. After that collapse, Delhi’s loss was inevitable. Barring Rishab Pant, no one really stood up for DC. With a stunning bowling effort from the likes of Rashid, Sandeep and Natarajan, SRH bowled out Delhi for 131 in 19 overs. With this win, SRH is still alive in the playoff race.
