Social media abuse is getting increasingly prevalent of late and not just commoners, even celebrities and popular celebrities are falling prey to the same.
Not so long ago, YSRTP chief YS Sharmila complained about social media abuse. She filed a complaint with the Cyberabad police, saying a few social media users are spreading misinformation about her personal life. This case received a lot of attention back then.
Recently, Chiranjeevi’s son-in-law Kalyaan Dhev fell prey to social media abuse. A total of 10-11 social media accounts were accused of verbally abusing Kalyaan. He too approached the police about the same.
In-form director Venky Kudumula lost over ₹63,000 as he was duped by a cyber fraudster. He paid the above mentioned amount to a person who said he would register Bheeshma for international film festival. Venky later understood that he was cheated by a scamster.
And many more noted celebrities are becoming victims to various kinds of cyber attacks. While some are losing money, others are complaining of a dent to their reputation. It remains to be seen if cyber police will tighten the regulations regarding social media abuse in order to keep a check on the same.
