The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minster Jagan Mohan Reddy has imported 1 lakh rapid testing kits from South Korea which are meant for the confirmation of COVID-19 virus presence in the suspected bodies within 15 minutes.
But, giving a shock to the Jagan’s government, the Indian Council of Medical Research has stated that these rapid tests cannot finalize the status of the Novel Corona Virus infection. Even though the rapid testing kits show that a person is tested negative for the COVID-19 virus, it doesn’t mean he is not infected.
RT-PCR (Real-Time Point of Care) test is the only potent method to determine the COVID-19 presence in the body, according to the ICMR. These rapid testing kits cannot deliver accurate results and especially in the persons who are infected with the virus from five to 10 days could be tested negative thereby he can spread the virus to the others.
Already, the AP government tested many people with these kits and stood in second place in the list of the highest tests conducted by a state by testing 539 persons per million.
