Team India batsman Smriti Mandhana (127 off 216 balls; 22 fours, 1 six) set a record by scoring a superb century in the historic pink ball Day and Night Test against the Aussie women’s team. She is the first Indian woman to score a century in a pink-ball Test as well as the first century by an Indian woman on Australian soil.
Former India captain Virat Kohli has scored a century in the first Pink Ball Test in men’s cricket. In the 2019 Pink Test against Bangladesh in Kolkata, Kohli scored 136 runs.
Meanwhile, Smriti Mandhana scored her first century of his Test career as Team India scored 276 for 5 at the tea break on the second day. Deepti Sharma (12) and Tania Bhatia are in the crease. Aussie bowlers Sophie Molineux 2, Ashleigh Gardner and Ellyse Perry took wickets.
Captain Mithali Raj (30) was run out. Among the Indian batsmen, Shafali Verma (31) and Poonam Raut (36) looked unbeaten. Only 44 overs of play was possible as rain interrupted the first day earlier.
