Popular playback singer and actor Manikka Vinayagam passed away due to ill health on Sunday night. According to reports, the veteran actor was undergoing treatment for the past few days, and he breathed his last after suffering from a heart attack yesterday. He was 78.
Manikka Vinayagam has sung over 800 songs in Tamil and other south Indian languages and has also acted in several films. He began his singing career with Kannukulla Keluthi song in Vikram starrer, Dhill (2001). Apart from singing for films, he has sung hundreds of folk songs and devotional songs. He essayed the role of Dhanush’s father in the film Thiruda Thirudi (2003). He has also acted in Perazhagan Arivumani, Gambeeram and several other movies.
The demise of Manikka Vinayagam has saddened the south film industry, and several celebrities have been paying tribute to the departed soul.
