A case has been filed against renowned choreographer Shaik Jani Basha, popularly known as Jani Master, by the Raidurgam police in Cyberabad. The allegations involve the sexual assault of a 21-year-old female choreographer.
According to the complaint, Jani Master allegedly assaulted the victim on multiple occasions during outdoor shoots in cities like Chennai, Mumbai, and Hyderabad, as well as at her residence in Narsingi.
The initial complaint, registered as a zero FIR in Raidurgam, has since been forwarded to the Narsingi police for further investigation.
Jani Master is facing charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including section 376 (rape), section 506 (criminal intimidation), and section 323 (voluntarily causing hurt). Shikha Goel, Director General of the Telangana Women Safety Wing, has urged the film industry to initiate an internal investigation as per the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (PoSH) Act and to officially register the case with law enforcement.
This incident comes after a previous complaint in June, where a dancer named Satish accused Jani Master of workplace harassment related to film projects.
Additionally, in 2019, Jani Master was sentenced to six months in jail due to a 2015 altercation, although the charges related to assaulting a woman were later dismissed.
