Shalini was once the top actress in Kollywood. After being a child artist, she made her debut as a lead actress in Tamil in Vijay Starrer ‘Kadhalukku Mariyadhai’. She worked with Mani Ratnam in Sakhi and scored a big hit. After that, Shalini fell in love with Ajith during the shooting of ‘Amarkalam’ and bid adieu to movies. Her last film was Prashanth starrer ‘Piriyadha Varam Vendum’
If the reports are to be believed, Shalini is all set to make a re-entry in Tamil cinema with Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan. Nearly after two decades, the talented actress will be seen on the big screen. Though it’s not a major role, the yesteryear actress is said to have given a nod to play a strong cameo in the period action drama.
Ajith and Shalini have two children. Their daughter got into her teens. It remains to be seen whether Shalini will act in more movies after Ponniyin Selvan.
