The Telangana Congress party has faced two back to back humiliations in the form of Dubbaka By-polls and GHMC elections. After that the TPCC Chief Uttam Kumar Reddy resigned from his post bearing all the responsibility for the losses. One may think that no leader in the Congress will show interest for that chair as it has been on the verge of extinction in Telangana.
To every one’s surprise the TPCC Chief post has suddenly become a hot seat in the entire Telangana. MP Uttam Kumar Reddy has resigned from the post of party president in the wake of the party registering a disastrous result in two consecutive elections. It is known that he has resigned from his post in the past and was re-appointed by the high command. It seems like it is not going to happen this time.
The Congress leadership is of the view that it would be better to appoint another leader in the position in the light of the recent developments. With this the competition to own the presidency has just begun. Party’s fire brand leader Revanth Reddy is leading in this race and he is even more ambitious than any other leader in a very long time.
The rest of the leaders who realized the competition are declaring themselves to be in the race. Recently, in a secret meeting held at a five star hotel in Hyderabad, some leaders came together and selected former minister Sridhar Babu as their new Chief and as per reports, Sridhar Babu, however, made it clear that he had no objection.
Meanwhile, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy is also in the race for the post. Jaggareddy has also announced that he is no exemption to the competition. Recently another leader came on the screen. Former Rajya Sabha member VH Hanumantrao, a senior leader, also opened up about his interest in the PCC post.
So, there are several leaders in race and this competition is not at all a healthy one at the moment. Given the situation of the Congress, there should be a compromised and unanimous declaration rather than fight. So, let’s wait and see how this goes.
