The Congress candidate from Chevella Lok Sabha constituency Konda Visweshwar Reddy was denied bail by the Nampally court in alleged assault of police personnel case.
He was accused for illegal confinement as well assault of two policemen attached to Cyberabad Police Commissionerate, when they visited his office to enquire into some money recovery, violating the model code of conduct, from his advocate friend, on April 7.
Fearing of possible arrest, Reddy who moved the Nampally court for bail, which was rejected.
Reddy, who joined the Congress, just couple of days before the December assembly polls from TRS, became a target of that party leadership.
It may be recalled that on April 9, the Cyberabad police had caught Sandeep Reddy, an advocate and believed to be a close relative of Konda, with Rs 10 lakh cash in his possession near SLN Terminus Mall. The police also believed to have seized some paper slips in which information about the expenditure for campaigning and liquor distribution were allegedly written, besides some information in code.
A sub-inspector and a constable working with Cyberabad Police Commissionerate gone to Reddy’s office in Road No.12, Banjaral Hills, where they were illegally confined and manhandled.
Incidentally, pollsters says if at all the Congress can win any seat in the LS polls it is Chevella. Though, TRS claims to sweep the polls yet gain bagging all the 16, pollsters say it may have to concede two seats – one each to the Congress and the BJP.
While, the Congress is set to win Chevella LS seat, the pollsters give clear edge to the BJP in Secunderabad LS constituency.
In that backdrop, the TRS leadership would not like to leave any stone to ensure Konda Visveshwar Reddy’s defeat, to grind their vengeance for his defection to Congress on the eve of assembly polls, which led the party losing 4-5 assembly seats in Rangareddy district.
Konda Visweshwar Reddy is one of the richest politicians, who filed over Rs 895 crore assets in his election affidavit.
