The Supreme Court has ordered the CBI to conduct enquiries into the assets owned by Andhra Pradesh education minister Adimulapu Suresh and his wife Vijayalaxmi, both of whom are IRS officers, with Suresh entering active politics in 2009. The CBI raided the residences of all IRS officers in 2016 and filed an FIR against Vijayalaxmi for the possession of disproportionate assets.
Vijayalaxmi was termed as the prime accuse, and Suresh as A2. This was because Vijayalaxmi possessed assets that were not aligned with her primary income. This FIR was challenged by Vijayalaxmi and Suresh in the Telangana HC, stating that an FIR was filed against them without any preliminary investigation.
The Telangana HC dismissed the CBI’s FIR, after which the CBI went to the Supreme Court. Today, the SC dismissed the Telangana HC’s verdict and ordered the CBI to continue their investigation in the case. The case has also been adjourned for two weeks.
