The deadliest second wave of Covid-19 has claimed the lives of several thousand people in India. While the country is recovering from the damage made by the second wave, the latest report by SBI predicted that the third wave is likely to begin within the next month (August)
The report published by SBI Research has been named ‘Covid-19: The race to finishing line’ has said that the third wave is expected to peak in September.
A team of State Bank of India (SBI) experts is constantly assessing the impact of Covid-19 on the country, banking and its impact on the economy. As part of this, the report said that the second wave of Covid in the country had reached its peak on May 7.
According to current statistics, the number of daily cases will drop to 10,000 by the second week of July. However, it warned that the number of cases was likely to increase steadily in the second half of August. The SBI report predicts third-wave peak cases maybe 1.7 times higher than second-wave peak cases.
India now has over 4.82 lakh active Coronavirus cases while the country has administered 35 crore vaccine doses so far.
