Story:
ACP Satyabhama (Kajal Aggarwal) is a strict cop who works for the SHE Teams. She investigates a missing person case that leads to uncovering dark secrets across shadowy towns while her past haunts her. She races to find the truth & redemption amidst a high-stake investigation to solve this missing person case. Is she successful in solving the case? What all does she encounter in this process? Needs to be seen in the film.
What about on-screen performances?
Kajal’s performance is good. It is a good shift for her from playing the regular commercial roles and it is refreshing to see her in a fierce cop role like this. But there are many places where she gives the regular expressions which we have seen her doing in all her past films and there are places where she couldn’t get the cop’s body language right which should have been taken care of.
Prajwal Yadma as Chotu/Iqbal who plays a key role in the film is the surprise element in the film. He nails his complicated character to perfection and scores well with his expressions.
Naveen Chandra walks past his role with ease as the heroine’s husband, There isn’t much scope for him to showcase his acting talent in this film as his portions were quite dull.
Ankith Koyya, Neha Pathan, Sampaada, Anirudh Pavithran, Satya Pradeepti & Payal Radhakrishna shine in their respective key supporting roles. Prakash Raj and Harshavardhan are good in their respective cop roles. Ravi Varma, Nagineedu, Rohit Satyan, K. Pavan Kalyan, Balaram, Sreedhar Reddy & others are decent in their limited parts.
What about off-screen talents?
The story by Ramesh Yadma & Prashanth Reddy Motadoo has a good premise. Also, the significance of the She Safe App was effectively highlighted in the script which is appreciable.
The screenplay by Sashi Kiran Tikka & Suman Chikkala is racy in parts. The parallel narration involving 2 different sequences shown at once is well-designed and showcased on screen. But there are occasional hiccups in the narration where the investigative scenes turn repetitive.
The film gets right into the main plot within the first 10 minutes and will hold your attention. The second half is all about how things are solved with a few solid investigation sequences. This half has a few slow scenes here & there. The narrative pace drops and it gets tiring at a point. But the climax is executed well.
Director Suman Chikkala does a good job. But had he taken more care of the second half, it could have shaped that much better. But nevertheless, he is a talented filmmaker. The music by Sricharan Pakala is the biggest strength of the film as his background score works the trick.
The cinematography by Vishnu Besi is impressive. The lighting and mood are set right for a film like this with his impressive camera work. The editing is alright. The production values by Aurum Arts are grand.
What’s Hot?
* Good premise with decent Twists
* Kajal Aggarwal’s Performance
* Cinematography & BGM
What’s Not?
* Naveen Chandra’s Track Was Dull
* Little Drag Towards The End
Verdict: Overall, Satyabhama is a decent action thriller that keeps us engaged for a good portion of time. The narration is pacy but there are certain dull passages where the tempo drops. With its ebbs and flows, Satyabhama ends up a middling thriller with good technical values.
