Sarangapani Jathakam is Indraganti Mohanakrishna’s new film that has hit the screens today. Featuring Priyadarshi, Srinivas Avasarala, and Vennela Kishore in lead roles, read our review to find out if the film lives up to the hype.
Plot
Sarangapani(Priyadarshi) is a small time employee who believes big time in astrology. He gets engaged to Mythili and is in a happy space. One fine day he comes across a very popular astrologer who tells him that there is a murder destined to happen in his horoscope and he will kill someone in his life. A crazy Sarangapani distances himself from his fiancee and decides to kill anyone to get that doubt cleared and lead a happy life, Did he becomes successful in his attempt is the basic story of the film.
What about on-screen performances?
After doing a serious role in Court, Priyadarshi tries a fun role of a man who blindly believes in astrology. He suits his character perfectly and gives an amazing performance.
Priyadarshi is a versatile actor who can carry any role with ease and shows his fun side in the film and was quite effective.
After a long gap, Vennela Kishore gets a meaty role and is amazing in the film. His comedy and chemistry with Priyadarshi is one of the biggest highlights.
The tongue in cheek humour is very good and Viva Harsha, who makes an entry in the second half is hilarious in his role.
Naresh, Tanikella Bharani, and Roopa Kodavayur are neat in their roles and bring depth to be film.
Srinivasa Avasarala gets an interesting role and he is quite good in the film. The twist related to his character in the end is neat.
What about off screen talents?
Indraganti Mohanakrishna directs the film and when compared to his previous films, this is a lot better and he makes a strong comeback.
The production values of the film are top notch and the presence of noted actors makes the film look colorful.
Vivek Sagar has composed the music and his work is quite good and so was his background score.
The hero has an addiction to astrology and why is he so addicted should have been showcased in an even better manner by the director.
The editing is neat but the dialogues were hilarious and those written for Vennala Kishore were too good.
The comedy in the first half is hilarious and gets bogged down a bit in the second half. But towards the last twenty minutes things pick up once again and make things quite effective.
The proceedings are routine and there is no special conflict that is highlighted. But it is the breezy nature of the film that make things work.

Overall, Sarangapani Jathakam is simple and breezy comedy that does not bore you. The proceedings are simple and so is the narrative. If you ignore a few over the top scenes, the film makes for a timepass watch.
